Travelling

Orientation: Novi Sad is located in Autonomous Province of Vojvodina on the Danube river about 80km to the northwest of Belgrade, and 100km from the border town (with Hungary) of Subotica.

By car there is a direct highway (E75) between Budapest and Novi Sad, and between Novi Sad and Belgrade. There is a 280 - 430 RSD toll fare for passenger cars. For more traveling information you can visit this web site: www.planplus.co.yu, which contains interactive road map of Serbia.

Public transport: Trains are generally considered bad value, the bus is the most reliable and recommended option for traveling. The long-distance bus stations in Novi Sad are at Bulevar Jase Tomića 6 and at the corner of Sentandrejski Put and Novosadskog partizanskog odreda, near "Novosadska Mlekara" (Novi Sad's dairy plant). Buses from Belgrade to Novi Sad run every day in interval of 15-30 min. (Note: Ask for a bus that runs over the highway, since it is faster.)

From Belgrade Airport: there is no easy direct bus connection with Novi Sad. Some companies run regular cars between Belgrade Airport and Novi Sad, e.g. Gonzales Taxi, tel. +381 63 514 850 (good English spoken). There is a good bus connection to Belgrade, from where you can take either bus or train to Novi Sad. Note: take the bus to the end line, which is the open market "Zeleni venac". From there you are in the walking distance of the Belgrade bus and railway stations. You should go down but it is best to ask someone for the way.

In Novi Sad:
Once in Novi Sad you can travel by taxi. They are relatively cheap and reliable. Be sure to use only official taxi companies (egg. Maxi, Novus, SOS taxi, Dunav, Grand, Pan...). Some of the unmarked taxis around the bus and train station are illegal and could charge you much more than normal. The average price for a ride in the city should be around 150 dinars (2 Euros). Minimum price for any ride is 90-100 dinars.
Novi Sad bus network is relativly reliable way of gettin around the city if you decide to use it. The ticket is bought at the front door and that it costs 29 dinars (0.40 Euros). Buses usualy run in 10 min. intervals.
